  4. $550 FINE FOR SMOKING AT A SPORT EVENT

Please be aware that NSW Health Tobacco Compliance Officers will now be issuing fines to people found smoking at sporting events.

Smoking has been banned at sporting venues in spectator areas since 7th January 2013 under the Smoke-free Environment Act 2000. This includes at all sporting fields across the shire.

Many members and spectators from all clubs across the shire have said that they are not aware of the new regulation but unfortunately this excuse will not prevent receiving a fine.

The fine for smoking at a sporting event is $550 to the individual smoker.

  5. MANA ISLAND HAMMERS

My family & I recently took a trip to Mana Island in Fiji. I took 15 of our old shirts across to hand out to islanders. Once I got there & took a walk through the village & Mana Adventist School I changed my mind & decided to give the shirts to the school.

I spoke with a teacher & the principal, they have 62 kids ranging from age 3 up to year 8. This was the first time they were ever donated any form of sporting clothes & they were extremely thankful to the point the teacher was in tears. As you can see by the photo’s they don’t have much but it doesn’t keep the smile from their faces.

The club will be sending another 50 shirts across to the school as I have their postal address. So if anybody in the club is going to Mana Island for a holiday please
take a trip down to the school & you might see the Mana Island Hammers having a kick.

    Cheers James Donkin
